The 2014 Jeep Cherokee has been available since the end of the 2013, and this new model that replaced the Jeep Liberty has been garnering a lot of media attention. Commercials are great and all car brands love teaming up with famous people, but the folks over at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration aren't nearly as chummy. Nice, just not chummy.

With that in mind, it was great learning that this SUV recently earned high marks with them and came back with a 4-Star safety rating.

The NHTSA tests how well vehicles perform in front crashes, side crashes, and rollovers. The Jeep Cherokee earned 4-, 5-, and 4-stars, respectively. At Fitzgerald Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram we take pride in knowing that our drivers are safe whether they're on or off road.

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee also earned a spot on the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's (IIHS) Top Safety Pick list. This organization tests roof strength, head restraints, and also how well a vehicle performs during front impacts that aren't head on, like if a driver clipped the side of a tree or another vehicle.

This SUV will be making its European debut at this March's Geneva Motor Show.  We know Europeans tend to lean towards smaller rides, but we bet they'll have a lot of fun taking the Jeep Cherokee to secret off-road trails, and with a 5-Star rating by the Euro NCAP they'll feel extra safe.
